The “Friends of YSU” Foundation has been established through the joint efforts of Yerevan State University and the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of the United States. The foundation’s primary goal is to create a network of university alumni. According to Armen Bayburdyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia and Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, the foundation operates on the principle of “perpetual capital” and will take steps to bring Armenian and non-Armenian students and professionals from the diaspora to the university, as well as provide scholarships—particularly in the field of Armenian studies.
